No, Husqvarna is owned by the Husqvarna Group. Electrolux acquired Husqvarna in 1978 and the company was spun off by Electrolux in 2006.
No, Husqvarna is not made by MTD. Husqvarna is a Swedish company that manufactures outdoor power products such as lawn mowers, chainsaws, and garden equipment. MTD Products Inc. is an American company that produces similar outdoor equipment and has its own brands. While both companies operate in the same industry, they are independent of each other.
Most likely MTD
unless something has changed, American yard products, who is owned by husqvarna
MTD Products's population is 2,006.
MTD Products was created in 1932.
Most Sears Craftsman lawnmowers were made by American Yard Products which has become part of Husqvarna. Some were also made by MTD and Murray.
Husqvarna makes only the high end saw (359 & up) now in Sweden. Every thing else is made in America. American Yard Products (owned by Husqvarna),I think, makes their low end saws now.
They are made by Ryobi which was briefly bought by MTD and made trimmers with several of the MTD-owned brands. Now I believe it is still partially MTD-owned, but is a separate entity.
They've been several posts here asking who makes various outdoor products like mowers and tractors. Many times it's some poor soul trying to find parts for an older machine built by a company that has been bought and sold several times. On Thursday I saw my first cub cadet(MTD) walk-behind mower with the Chinese Honda-knockoff engine. Those engines are built by a Taiwanese company called Jenn Feng, which was recently purchased by Husqvarna, who owns AYP. A couple years ago MTD signed an agreement with Jeng Feng that allowed both companies sell the products of the other company in Asia and North America. So, it seems, that now you have MTD selling Jenn Feng products (now owned by Husqvarna) and Jenn Feng selling McCulloch, Cub Cadet, Troy-Bilt, and Yard Machines from MTD. At least that's how I think it works.Independent repair shops might struggle for a bit when a customer shows up with a mower, or chainsaw, they bought at a big-box store to ask for warranty repairs. There will be a learning curve for these new products, and parts stocking will be another challenge. It will be interesting to see what happens to the Husqvarna chainsaw line now that they own a major Asian chainsaw manufacturer. Husky owns Mac; who'd a thought it.
They are manufatured by AYP (American Yard Products) which has long been owned by Electrolux and is now part of EHP (Electrolux Home Products) which also includes Husqvarna, Poulan, WeedEater, McCulloch, Partner, Target, etc. It is now managed by Husqvarna.
The Honda Black Max self-propelled mower sold a Sam's Club is made by Husqvarna Outdoor Products. No mention in the owner's manual, but the deck plate has an HOV label and the oil that comes with the mower is HOV 4 cycle oil and the label on it states that it is made by "Husqvarna Outdoor Products".
just bought a craftsman snow blower yesterday. 3 manufacturers, MTD, Briggs and Stratton and Husqvarna. was told MTD 357cc was chinese can`t even find a torque # for it, Briggs and Stratton 305cc and 342cc made in USA, they had no Husqvarna so i don`t know about motors. was told Briggs and Stratton were not only making the motors but the whole machine, on the Pro series i bought which has the Briggs motor, if you look on the chassis it says built in the USA. This information i was told at a Sears store. hope its correct.
