Yes, Rotella 15W-40 is generally considered a good choice for a 1450 Harley-Davidson engine. It provides excellent protection and performance, particularly in air-cooled engines, due to its high thermal stability and shear resistance. However, it's important to check the specific recommendations in your owner's manual and ensure that the oil meets the necessary specifications for your motorcycle.

Twin Cam 1450 FXDXEngine , Transmission and Primary Chain case need the same oil. I use AMSOIL MCV 20W-50.a little steep in cost but worth it.as a parts associate in a Harley Davidson dealer, in a twin cam Dyna you use 4 qts in the engine, FORMULA + in the transmission (1 qt if 6 speed, 18-20oz if 5 speed) and FORMULA + ALSO in the primary. We sell the most of engine oil HARLEY DAVIDSON BRAND 20w50 for engine, formula + is a oil on its own, very light weight. If you use synthetic, you should use in ALL 3 areas though. and I would stick to the Harley Davidson brand oil.
