For Harley-Davidson motorcycles, it's recommended to use Harley-Davidson's own brand of oil, such as the Screamin' Eagle or V-Twin Synthetic oil, which are specifically formulated for their engines. Alternatively, high-quality motorcycle oils from reputable brands like Mobil 1, Amsoil, or Castrol that meet the necessary specifications can also be used. Always check the owner's manual for the specific oil type and viscosity recommended for your model.
Use HD oil only and if you can afford use synthetic
we use 20/50 of any brand you choose.
Harley recommends their own Syn3 synthetic oil or their regular H-D brand 25W50 fossil oil (both made by Citgo), but I use & recommend Mobil One 15W50.
20w50 Harley Davidson motor oil If you can't get H-D brand oil, you could use any brand 20w50. Stay away from synthetics. I stuck with H-D 20w50. Good luck!
No.
You can use the same oil that you use in your motor
Twin Cam 1450 FXDXEngine , Transmission and Primary Chain case need the same oil. I use AMSOIL MCV 20W-50.a little steep in cost but worth it.as a parts associate in a Harley Davidson dealer, in a twin cam Dyna you use 4 qts in the engine, FORMULA + in the transmission (1 qt if 6 speed, 18-20oz if 5 speed) and FORMULA + ALSO in the primary. We sell the most of engine oil HARLEY DAVIDSON BRAND 20w50 for engine, formula + is a oil on its own, very light weight. If you use synthetic, you should use in ALL 3 areas though. and I would stick to the Harley Davidson brand oil.
should be 20-50 wt harley oil but check with your dealer first..
Harley Davidson recommends it (Citco I think) but No!!! Just use the correct weight for your motor, time of year and how you ride it!
3.5 to 3.7 Quarts. After oil change 4 Quarts if dry and brand new motor.
The best oil to use in your Harley transmission is typically a high-quality synthetic gear oil specifically designed for motorcycle transmissions. Harley-Davidson recommends using their own brand, such as Harley-Davidson Transmission Lubricant, which meets the necessary specifications. Alternatively, options like AMSOIL or Mobil 1 synthetic gear oils are also popular among riders. Always check your owner’s manual for the specific viscosity and requirements for your model.
Recommended oil is 20w50
