The usual part to fail in a CDI ignition unit is the capacitor itself, or one of the internal electronic "gates (transistors which operate like internal relays). If the bike won't start at all, it's probably a gate failure. But if it only starts when cold and then misfires after 10 miles or so, it's probably either a generator winding breaking down or a failing capacitor. Given the scale of manufacture, there's always the chance of finding the odd faulty component in a batch.
