What do you have to do to start a motorcycle club?

If you have to ask how to start a m/c, then you don't have any business asking. If you really want to be in a m/c, then find a local club and start hanging around and listening and then join.

If you have to ask it means you want to know. Don't let people intimidate you. There's a common fear that if you start up a MC you'll feel the wrath of whatever bad boy MC seems to be dominate in your area. That's not necessarily true. If you just want to start up a small group that's mainly a riding club you don't need to do anything but contact your friends and put your group together. The other clubs couldn't care less. But, if you want an official MC with rules and by-laws and want to wear a vest with your patches or colors you need to be careful that you don't copy or come close to another clubs, especially one of the 1% clubs. That could cause an issue. These clubs don't adhere to any rules or regulations but their own and don't take kindly to having their image copied. But, even if you were to do that, they would most likely just explain the problem and ask that you correct it. As long as you are respectful you won't have a problem.

My advice would be to contact one of the local MC's in your area and ask for help. You don't have to contact the 1% clubs like the Outlaws or Hells Angels if that concerns you. Contact any club. Most would be willing to give you advice on how to start your club.
