The top speed of the Yamaha V Star 950 is approximately 100-110 mph (160-177 km/h). This cruiser motorcycle is known for its smooth performance and comfortable ride, making it suitable for both city commuting and highway cruising. However, actual speeds may vary based on factors such as rider weight, road conditions, and bike modifications.
I have an 09 V-Star 950. After I put on a V&H Big Radius 2-2 exhaust, a Baron Custom air kit and a Dynajet Power Commander I had it dyno tuned. My bike came out with 53.4 hp @ about 5440 RPM. I didn't have the sense to test it before I did all that but it will give you an idea. They say you can expect a 5-10% increase so I'd guess starting hp is about 50-51.
To remove the back seat from a Yamaha V Star 950, first, locate the seat release mechanism, typically found under the rear of the seat. Use a wrench or socket to remove the bolts securing the seat if necessary. Lift the back seat upward and pull it off, ensuring any attached clips or fasteners are disconnected. Always refer to the owner's manual for specific instructions related to your model.

There's a keyhole on the right side of the bike - "upside" when on the kickstand. Look on the plastic trim piece under the seat. Insert and twist the key while pulling up on the front of the seat. BE CAREFUL when you replace it! Mine has an electrical cable that tends to get in the way.
