As these bikes are getting older by the day, use a premium 10/40 fully synthetic engine oil. This will not cause clutch slip and I have used it on my 1995 SR 250 for ages. BUT change it every 1000 miles - it only holds 1300cc's of engine oil and change the oil filter at the same time! Fifteen minutes maximum.
