Put your bike up on the center stand. Look at the bottom side of the engine and you will see a round disk that is maybe a little smaller in diameter than a CD; it has some splines radiating out from the center. In the center of that disk you will see a 17 mm bolt head. That is the head of your oil filter bolt. Back out that bolt carefully. After you loosen it you can turn it and the disk with your fingers. Be careful if your engine is still hot. The oil that will drain out may also be very hot. You will probably want to first loosen and remove your oil drain bolt, drain out most of the oil into a pan then loosen the oil filter bolt and allow it to drain around the edge of the disc before you completely unscrew the oil filter bolt. The oil drain bolt also has a 17 mm head that is located right next to the disk. Once you have let most of the oil drain out go ahead and carefully unscrew the oil filter bolt with your fingers. When you completely unscrew it the oil filter bolt the disk, and the parts that hold the oil filter, will drop into your hand. Be careful not to drop it. Once you have it out in the open where you can get a good look at it you should see the filter. There should be a silver colored metal cap setting on top of the filter that you can lift off. Next lift the oil filter off the oil filter bolt (you may need to turn it back and forth a little to get it off). There should be a washer under the filter (sometimes it will stick to the bottom of the filter so don't throw it away with the old filter). Under that washer you will see a spring around the filter bolt. I would suggest that as you separate these parts lay them out in a straight line on a shop towel so it will be easy to reverse the order when you assemble them with your new filter in place. There are two rubber O-rings in your filter assembly which you may want to replace when installing your new filter; you will see the larger one that goes in a groove around the edge of the disk and a small one that goes in a groove around the filter bolt near the bolt head (you may need to use something like a small screw driver blade to get the small O-ring out of it's groove but do so very carefully so as not to scar the bolt). Once you get the small O-ring out of it's groove you can roll it up the filter bolt and off the end with your fingers. Put the new replacement O-ring on by just rolling it down the filter bolt with your fingers. Be sure all of your parts are kept as clean as possible while you are doing this. If anything gets dropped or dirty during your work be sure to clean it up before assembly. I would put a little clean oil on the two O-rings. and on the rubber rings that are built into the ends of your new oil filter before assembling these parts. When you slide your new filter onto the filter bolt it will drag a little as the rubber on the filter goes over the threads of the filter bolt. When you put the filter bolt (with the new O-ring on it) back through the center hole of the disc the small O-ring will drag a little so put a little pressure against the bolt with your fingers and it should pop right into place. Put everything back in reverse order. I believe your filter bolt and your drain bolt (make sure the drain bolt's washer is in place) both torque to 14 and 1/2 lb./ft. Make sure you don't over tighten these bolts as it can be very expensive to fix what breaks if you do. I highly recommend using a properly calibrated torque wrench. Hope this is not more info than you wanted. I remember the first time I installed an internal Ninja filter so I thought the extra info might help. Good luck and happy oil change.

How do you change the oil filter on a 04 Honda civic Si?

To change the oil filter on a 2004 Honda Civic Si, first ensure the engine is cool and then lift the car using jack stands. Locate the oil filter, which is on the underside of the engine, and use an oil filter wrench to unscrew it. Before installing the new filter, apply a bit of oil to the rubber gasket of the new filter to ensure a proper seal. Finally, screw in the new filter by hand, tighten it gently, and then refill the engine with new oil as needed.
