On a 1997 Ford F-250, the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is typically located on the driver's side of the dashboard, visible through the windshield. Additionally, it can often be found on a metal plate attached to the driver's side door frame or door jamb. For more detailed verification, you may also find it on the frame itself, usually on the driver's side near the front, stamped directly into the metal.
there is no other way to know for sure, but the VIN is located in 3 different places on the ATV if that is the problem. The easiest place to find the VIN is look at the frame, it is stamped into the frame usually on the left side, under the foot-rest.
it should be on the frame on the bottom left of it

* The VIN begins with the prefix "JKA", "JKB", "JK1", "JSA", or "LM4" * On all motorcycles it is stamped on the side of the steering head. On street-legal motorcycles, the VIN also appears on the Safety Certification Label affixed to, or near, the side of the steering head. * On ATV's it is stamped on the lower frame tube, to the left of the engine. * On MULE® utility vehicles, look for a plate welded to the frame at or near the front of the vehicle. On some MULE models, the VIN is located on the frame, just below the front of the seat. The above is a quote from the Kawasaki website. I found the VIN numbers on both of my Kawasaki ATV's on the lowest frame tube parallel to the ground. The Prairie 700 had the number on the left under the front differential. The Bayou 250 had the number directly under the engine on the left side. The numbers are stamped into the frame and not that obvious, but are easy to see once you know where to look.

My 97 escort LX sedan has a blower relay located above and to the left of the fuse panel located below the dash next to the door frame. You almost have to be a contortionist to see it since it is located behind the dash panels.
