Older bikes that had carburetors could, if there was a problem with the float, allow gas to continuously fill and overflow the float bowl, leading to a large puddle of gas under your bike. To fix this, a shutoff valve was added. However, it is very easy to forget to turn off the valve after a ride, leading to the same issue.
A vacuum operated switch was added to the valve that would only allow fuel to flow when there was suction, provided by the carb, which fixed this issue.
Now since all Sportsters are made with fuel-injected engines, there is no need for the valve switch since an exact volume of gas is squirted into the cylinder. It does not use gravity to feed gas like the older carb-built engines.

any harley dealership or reputable bike shops that carry harley parts. you will need the bushings and bolts and fluid also. It doesnt pay to just replace the seals. While you are there change it all. It is inexpensive. you also need the correct tools to seat the seals without damaging them. If you do not have the tools or the knowlege it is best to bring the bike to someone that knows what they are doing.

Have you tired basic tune up? Change the spark plugs, air filters, and PCV Valve... if that doesnt work, I dont know.. Mine needs an air fuel ratio sensor which causes the plugs to foul up.. That in turn causes my car to hesitate and choke out when you push the gas.

every Ipod has an automatic shut off installed that takes effect around 15 min of no changing(button pushing, changing the volume, etc.) if you have an Ipod with a screen just go to settings and change it no not do an automatic shutoff. if your Ipod doesnt have a screen(shuffle) then just raise and lower the volume real fast so it wont shut off.
