2 stroke or 4 stroke? If it is a 4 stroke carb model, it has a few accelerator pump. To start you must connect hose prime bulb, pull choke, twist throttle from slow to full throttle 3 times then attempt to start. If you do not twist throttle on the 4 storkes it is hard starting.
