It could be that it is simply stuck because of rust, dirt and grime. Clean it and oil the moving parts. If that is not enough to loosen the brake, the problem is in the brake parts inside the wheels. This must then be dissassembled and the parts cleaned or changed.
Crack the bleeder screw pry calipers apart with screw driver rebuild the brake ....tip to get brake piston out use compressed air
ES stands for electric shift. The ES model is has push button controls for up shifting and down shifting. The regular recon has a foot control for shifting gears.
You first need to make sure that you have to foot on the brake. Many cars will not go out of park if your foot is not on the brake.
Put your foot on the brake and move it into drive
depress foot brake as hard as you can, then pull it out of park. happened to me
put your foot on the brake.... if that doesn't work you have to fix the wiring for the brake/transmission interlock
above the foot brake. You have to unscrew the black cover first.

You need to start the car, put your foot on the brake pedal, and then you can get outta PARK!!
Put your key in the ignition put foot on brake and gently turn the key and the steering wheel. It is probably stuck because your wheels are turned.
If a Ford Focus is stuck in park, you should first check to make sure the gear is not stuck. You also need to make sure you have your foot on the brake in order to move it out of park.
