No. Both epic poems were written by Homer (Greek). The Iliad tells the story of the Trojan War, about the last year of the war. The chief protagonists are Achilles, Agamemnon, Patroclus, Hector, Paris. The Odyssey is about a Greek hero, Odysseus. After the Trojan War, he started his 10 year long journey home (to Itacha), where everybody thought he was dead. Only his wife Penelpoe believed that he would come home. On his journey he had many adventures (the one-eyed Polyphemus, the Sirens, Circe, etc) and finally he got home.
Ulysses is the latinized version of Odysseus. They are one and the same, but in different languages. He is not to be confused with Ulysses of the James Joyce's book Ulysses, based on the Odyssey.
The Aeneid was written under the rule of Augustus during a time called the Pax Romana (Roman Peace) in about 29 BCE. The Iliad was written down by Homer around the 8th Century BCE, after it had been orally told for many many generations. Dates for the Trojan war (if it actually occurred) are estimated to between 1100 BCE and 700 BCE, so the story after having been told for possibly hundreds of years was probably very corrupted by the time Homer had a scribe write it down.
a lot My copy of the Iliad has 297 pages. I came across the question on my quest to find out if it was abridged. I don't think it's abridged but it's the W.H.D. Rouse "plain English" translation. It's the same story with many of the same words (translated) but it doesn't have all the stylistic words that Homer original used. So I think the original "epic poem" was a lot longer. Wikepedia claims that it is aprox.15,700 lines. My copy is the seventh printing, 1956. It's published as a MENTOR BOOK by the New American Library. Oh, and it's very small. Okay so there's a bigger more recently published version (http://www.amazon.com/Iliad-Penguin-Classics-Deluxe/dp/0140275363) that is 704 pages and it's dimensions: 8.3 x 5.5 x 1.9 inches.

The Odyssey, is the sequel to the Iliad following Odysseus's adventures home. The Odyssey is the sequel to The Iliad. The Odyssey is the story of Odysseyus' journey home from Troy to Ithica. The sequel shares some of the same characters like Odysseyus for example. He is also the one who came up with the idea of the Trojan Horse that ultimately one the war against Troy for the Greeks.
the books are dumb. y learn about fake things.........
The Iliad was the most famous epic poems of the Trojan War, set on the ninth year of the war. Along with the Odyssey, these two works were undoubtedly the greatest masterpieces in Greek literature. The Iliad was composed by little known author named Homer, who probably lived in the 9th-8th century BC. It was not even certain if there was anyone named Homer, or that the two poems were written by the same person. However, the Iliad influenced many writers throughout the centuries with its heroic and timeless themes.
