There certainly is the possibility for it to be done, either for the original line of films, or even quite possibly for the new line of films. This is doubly true for the original films, because they never used the same Leatherface aside from the original and its sequel…after the sequel, the Leatherface's shown were members of the same family, but not the original killer from the first two films.

The story behind the story is that the original Leatherface's real name was Bubba Sawyer, and his entire family is partly to moderately insane to begin with, and a dormant and murderous personality comes to the surface when a member of the Sawyer family puts on a mask made of human flesh. This is the explanation in the beginning of "Leatherface", which is the third film of the originals. So with this rationale, the murderous personality that is Leatherface will never die so long as the family line continues.

The remakes could go on as well, but with Thomas Hewitt having had his right arm cut off, I find it unlikely…but I'm sure that they could twist the plot somehow.
