you are still a parent after all. so why would you NOT be responsible??? this is your child even if you do not have custody it is your moral obligation to make sure the child is raised right. ***beyond the "morality" obligation- which is no doubt true, you may or may not be legally. Depends upon the nature of crime, and with whom the child was in custody of at the time of event, incident, etc...if there was just one. You'll need to check with your family attorney and/or a public defender to see if you can be held legally liable***

Do minors have to pay child support?

Child support is paid by the parents. It is a court awarded decision where one parent contributes a stipulated amount of money to keep the minor(s) in the life style to which they have become accustomed to. It is paid by one parent thru the courts to the parent who has custody of the minors. Its purpose is to pay for the expenses incurred by the minor in the custodial household. For example if a single parent family home there is one adult and three minors. That is a total of four individuals in one home. each individual is responsible for 1/4 of the expenses occurred in the house. The three minors would make up a total of 3/4 of the expenses such as rent, electricity, gas, telephone, etc. So if each child is awarded 200$ a month, that is a total of 600$ a month. That 600$ is supposed to pay for the household expenses, groceries, clothing, lunch money, bus fare, and all other necessities for maintaining the minor(s).Answer:If a minor have a child it's the minor's responsibility to pay for said child. Both parents of the child of course, even if both are minors. The grandparents are not obligated to pay for their grandchild. They still have to pay for their own child though.

Can a 9 year old be charged with a crime?

yes but i don't believe they can go to jail Yes a minor can be charged with a crime and they can get to jail. If the crime is bad enough they can be charged as a adult and serve time in prison but normally it would be a prison for minors. but there is cases of minors serving time with adults in prisons. but minors always get the least punishment most of the time. there is times when repeat offenders are given max time in jail/prison. also showing the minor is sorry and understands what he did wrong can help lower the sentence. basically if a minor goes into court acting smug and ignorant to the judge they will be given max probably.
