The ascending node (of the sun's path) and the Vernal Equinox are both the

same point on the map of the stars. As seen from Earth, the sun appears to

reach and pass that point on March 21.

Generally on March 21, but this date can vary a day or two either way depending on the cycle of leap years. See the "Earth's Seasons" link below for the precise date and time each year.

When is the first day of spring?

The date for the start of the astronomical spring season each year is called the Vernal Equinox, one of two days on which the overhead path of the Sun moves across the equator. The actual date depends on one's location north or south of the equator, and will shift due to the 1/4 days by which the orbital year exceeds the calendar year. For the Northern Hemisphere, the Vernal Equinox is the "March Equinox," which for most of the early 21st century (2001-2006 and 2008-2017) will be March 20.This is the Autumnal Equinox south of the equator. For the Southern Hemisphere, the Vernal Equinox is the "September Equinox," which falls on September 23 (2010-2011) or September 22 (2012-2013).The first climatological day of spring, as mandated by the World Meteorological Organization, is March 1 every year in the northern hemisphere and September 1 every year in the southern hemisphere.Canada, the USA, and some European countries customarily observe the astronomical date (ca. March 20-21/ca. September 22-23) while Australia, New Zealand, and some other European countries follow the climatological date (March 1/September 1). Customary dates are often declared "official" by the mass media although no legal basis exists for this designation. Preferences for the astronomical or climatological dates vary in other countries. Lunar dates are used across much of east Asia to determine the beginning of spring. The ecological beginning of spring (vernal season) has no fixed dates but is marked locally by the beginning of the growing season for most plants when the local mean daily temperature reaches 6 degrees C/42 degrees F. Many ecologists also recognize a pre-spring (prevernal) season that precedes spring. Pre-spring is a transitional time at the end of winter when only the hardiest plants like the crocus begin to bloom.Tropical regions of the Earth do not have a spring season.

If you were on the moon during a lunar eclipse what kind of eclipse would you experience?

It would still be a lunar eclipse just on the moon and everything would be red. If you are on earth and a Lunar or a Solar eclipse happens than you are actually light than you would be regularly. To find out how much you weigh you take your weight and divide it by 1.5. So a lunar eclipse is just the same a lunar eclipse.

How many days between September 22 and March 20th?

I do not go by the number of days but in a 360 degree year there are 60 degrees between the Autumnal Equinox and the Vernal Equinox. or you must count the days in each month in a sidereal calender instead of the lunar one that I go by for a few reasons/keeping track of my cycle for one reason and my sanity for another. > Just ME<

Why is Easter never celebrated on the same date?

Because the christians stole it from the pagans. It used to be a pagan festival, and the pagans worshipped all sorts of stuff - the date of Easter is set according to when the full moon appears, its something like the second Sunday after the full moon in March.

When is the date of Holy Thursday?

Holy Thursday is always three days before Easter. Easter is calculated to follow Passover which is based on the lunar calendar. In 2009, Easter will be on Sunday, April 12 and Holy Thursday will be on Thursday, April 9. Catholics and most Protestants use the new Gregorian calendar decreed by Pope Gregory XIII in 1582 to calculate the date of Easter. The time of Easter is based on the cycles of the moon, the equinox, and seasons and things in nature. In simple (?) terms Easter occurs on the first Sunday following the first full moon that occurs on or after the day of the vernal equinox (the first day of spring). In 2009 the vernal equinox will be on Friday, March 20. The first full moon after that will be Thursday, April 9. Thus, Easter will be on Sunday, April 12 and Holy Thursday will be on Thursday, April 9.

Why is Christmas always on December 25 and the date for Easter is always different?

Christmas is defined, like many feast days, as a calendar day. Easter (and Ash Wednesday and Lent between them) is defined based on the lunar calendar, with Easter being the first Sunday after the first full moon after the Vernal Equinox. The lunar cycle does not match the calendar cycle, because there is not an even number of lunar months within a calendar (solar) year. So Easter can fall anywhere between the dates of March 22 to April 25. On the Julian calendar (Eastern Orthodox), it is between April 4 and May 8.

Why other month have 30-31 day while the moon rotation around earth with in 28 12 days only?

The months being 30-31 days is based on the Gregorian calendar, introduced by Pope Gregory XIII. It is a compromise between the solar and lunar calendars, designed to fix the solar vernal equinox (day & night are equal lengths) to a set date (March 21), for better planning of the Easter feast (fourteenth day of the Easter Moon, or the Sunday after). I don't know why the months were designed with uneven numbers of days, though. The solar calendar is based on 4 major events - Vernal Equinox, Summer Solstice (longest day), Autumn Equinox (also equal length of day & night), and Winter Solstice (longest night). Today, we know them as the first days of Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter (although, the solstices where once known as Mid-summer and Mid-winter). The lunar calendar has 13 months of 28 days each. When one month (Gregorian) has 2 full moons, we refer to the 2nd one as a "blue moon."

What fesivals are celebrated during spring?

The month of Nisanis referred to by the Torah as "the month of springtime" (חודש האביב, chodesh haAviv, Ex. 34:18). The Talmud (in the first chapter of Sanhedrin) explains this to be a requirement that Passover (Pesach) fall in the spring time, as determined by the solar calendar. Since the Jewish calendar is a lunar calendar, this establishes a rule that a leap month needs to be added to make Passover later, if it would fall before the vernal equinox without a leap month. That leap month is the second month of Adar and it is added in 7 out of every 19 years. Other holidays that can fall during the spring time are Purim (though it almost always falls before the vernal equinox), and Shavuot which falls on the 50th day after the first day of Pesach.

When does the Chinese calendar start in each year?

It marks the start of the new lunar cycle and is called the Spring Festival (in the northern hemisphere) as it falls between the December solstice and the March equinox

What is the Moon's nodal cycle?

The lunar nodes are the orbital nodes of the Moon, that is, the points where the orbit of the Moon crosses the ecliptic. The ascending node is where the moon crosses to the north of the ecliptic. The descending node is where it crosses to the south.

Why doesn't Ramadan fall at the same time every year?

The Muslim calendar is based on the lunar calendar and it does not have any leap years. The Lunar calendar is shorter than the Solar calendar and therefore the Muslim calendar falls out at a different point in the Solar calendar every year.
