There are no RECORDED human fatalities known by an anaconda, although it is likely that natives of South America have easily been killed by the giant serpent in vulnerable conditions, say, in deep water. There are many local stories and legends regarding the anaconda as a man-eater, but there is very little evidence to support any such activity, for large meals are not regularly consumed, as these snakes can fast for over a year after devouring large prey of sufficient nutrition since the reptiles only use about a tenth of their energy on a daily basis while conserving the rest for further killing potential and digestion.

Pythons, on the other hand, are notorious for many factual man-eating reports and have often gotten confused as anacondas, when no anaconda has actually ever killed and consumed a human in any documented incident.
