Toucans are not designed for the desert. Every animal is designed to its own habitat. If the gradually works up there to the desert, which would take many years, they may eventually evolve.

Deserts may not also have the toucan's necessary diet. Plus, toucans are used to the humidity and rain, not little rain and dryness. Toucans are also used to shade. Toucans would also not blend in to the desert surroundings, and would be succeptible to predators.

Hope this helps!
