You need a well rounded team of Pokemon which can take on the Gym leaders and Champion and Elite 4 easily/well.
If you haven't completed the Gyms yet, a good team which can be caught VERY easily (common Pokemon) is one which I have.
Luxray (Evolved from Shinx, Found before 1st Gym)
Rapidash (Evolved from Ponyta, found at Route 206)
Leafeon (Adopt an Eevee, and then level up in the Moss Stone in the Eterna forest)
Empoleon (Starter, Piplup)
Lucario (Evolved from Riolu, Riolu egg found after 5th Gym)
Starraptor (Evolved From Starravia, Starly, Found on the route before 1st Gym)
The above team allows you to act super effectively against a LOT of the Pokemon types in the Sinnoh region.

You can't change nature once you've caught a Pokemon. I suggest recatching the same Pokemon with the nature codes ON.
