Yes, you can legally become a teacher in the United States with that record. However, the school that does the hiring may decide that it is a minor crime of moral turpitude, and not hire you because of a lack of good judgment on your part. If it has been a few years, I don't see where this will be a problem as long as you don't have a history of bad driving decisions.
