This idea of regular and irregular verbs is generally most helpful to people learning a second language. If a verb follows the expected rules, it is regular. Talk is a regular verb.

* Present simple, the infinitive form is used: e.g. Please talk to me.

* The Past simple is formed by verb + ed : The parrot talked.

* The Past Participle [used in the present and passive tenses, or as an adjective] is verb + ed. e.g. My parrot has talked ever since we got him. (Present perfect)

Go is an irregular verb.

* Present simple is go: We go fishing every weekend.

* Past simple is went: They went fishing at 6 o'clock this morning.

* Past participle is gone: They're not home at the moment, they have gone fishing.(Present perfect)
