This depends a bit if you are male or female. Males tend to accumulate fat around that area, especially around middle age. This is not healthy and can be an indication that problems could follow. Neither is it good for women to accumulate fat in that area. However, often what makes women - and sometimes men - appear pregnant is separation of the muscles which run down the center of your abdomen. This can happen if you have had children, if you have poor muscle tone, or lift heavy weights. This can be corrected with special exercises from a physiotherapist who can make sure which ones will benefit you, as some exercises for the stomach muscles can make the separation worse. Ask a doctor to check the cause first, then take appropriate action. If you're a non-pregnant female, there is nothing more humiliating than being asked when your baby's due...it's worth the effort to put things right.
