Gaston Leroux-Phantom of the Opera
Christine age 20 from Sweden, her father dying promises her an Angel of Music to protect her and teach her the beauty of music. She lives at the Opera House in Paris as a understudy dancer.
Raoul age 22, rich, a Count, a childhood friend of Christine.
Erik age unknown, deformed, musical genius, he teaches Christine to sing with perfection falls in love with her, would do anything for her even to commit murder.
If you mean in dress, he is usually dressed in all black with his hair slicked back and a cape, not to mention his usual white mask. If you mean his face, there are different descriptions. Some say he has no nose, others say he doesn't. Some say a portion of his skull shows, or his skin is extremely thin. Or his eye sags down, and his eyes are far into his head. Some say that his lips are normal on one side and get more deformed as they get closer to the deformed side of his face. Others say that his lips are completely normal, but all say, or MOSTLY all say that he is deformed on one half, or all of his face to the point where some faint, or hate him for it. That's why he is shunned.
Erik(the phantom)has tightly stretched yellow skin, he has no nose, and, basically has deaths head. I can't give you a better explanation of Erik other than his eyes look like black holes in the light, and they gleam brightly in the dark. I read the book and that's what Gaston LeRoux said he looked like. BTW: Watch the movie and you'll see him unmasked. ((I watched the black-and-white silent version.))

Madame Giry
The main character was Christine Daae.
Christine Daae
Christine! I want to slap her! :P
The enjoyment is reading about lost love, and the Phantom's character is psychologically very interesting.
The female protagonist is Christine Daaé, a young Swedish opera singer.
The phantom!!!! Sincerely, Phantomfreak6377 There a few great characters, yet the best ones have to be Meg and Erik(the phantom)
The word is protagonist, in effect the main or lead character, not type-cast as hero or villain. it would have to be the title character, the Phantom himself.

Yes there is. Gaston Leroux the original writer of the Phantom of the Opera was inspired by those who lived directly underground of Paris, who he translate into his character Erik. No there is no such thing as a real Phantom of the supernatural, but only in your imagination.
