At the end of season 3 (Hiatus) Gibbs leaves the team, only to return and the start of season 4 and take back the role of headslapper, functional mute and all-around good guy. (most of the time! :P)

∙ 12y agoYes. It was in the plot. He is back with the team even in the first episode of season 4 and continues to come back for some reason. And then eventually jenny Shepard convinces him to stay back.
Most importantly, he is the lead protagonist in the storyline why would they kill or retire him?
