well it all started when band member ortise adversed to form a band he then auditioned Marvin who reccomended Aston he then later found jb and marvins ex girl friend came up with the name jls ( jack the lad swing) after Simon cowell told jls that their first initial name UFO was already taken they came back with the name jls but the real reason ortise put the band together was to raise money for his mum who was suffering from various illnesses .
