Do you really think that the scene was unscripted. How do you think that Merv Griffin was available to be on camera within seconds of the kiss starting. He is not part of the show usual cast of characters. It was a special put together just like when Pat Sajak showed everyone he was bald.

Are you joking it was a TV kiss not a Romantic Kiss and was done strictly as a put on for Publicly. Not only that but it happened over 20 years ago in 1989.

Pat Sajak was leaving a sinking ship the Daytime network Wheel of Fortune. The show was cancelled by NBC months after he left the show. CBS aired the Daytime Wheel of Fortune for a short period before they also cancelled it. While it did return to NBC in 1991 it only took another 8 months to be cancelled forever.

Both Pat Sajak and Vanna White were still doing the syndicated nighttime show that was rated number one for years. They are still doing it as coworkers and just friends as they have been since they started the nighttime show in 1983.

Wow in 1989 when both Pat Sajak and Vanna White were unmarried they kissed on television. You think that there might have been some possibility that it just happened. That Merv Griffin made a rare appearance on the show just a few seconds after the kiss began. That even if he was off stage he would be in make up for a On Screen Appearance. That he would be able to see someone kissing and be able to walk up to them even before the kiss ended. Not at all. He was already dating his future wife, Lesly Brown and they married soon after on December 31 1989 and they have been together ever since. That's the Pat Sajak love story, not something with Vanna White who also married someone on December 31 1990 and had two children with them..

The show ran out of time because it was just a TV stunt. The non live show could easily be edited to allow them to kiss. It was a stunt and a joke
