It really is unknown what happened to Captain Smith. The person who tried to save the most lives was Thomas Andrews. Before retiring to the First Class Smoking Room, he walked up and down the ship, encouraging people to get into the life boats. He also threw chairs, and other objects overboard, as to give the passengers a better chance at survival.
Well its a bit of both actually.
he saved them by putting women and children first in the life boats
No because the men had to die
The people lucky enough to get in a life boat had two wait a few hours until the nearest ship, the Carpathia, could save them.
People were very afraid some jumped of the ship and some just went to slep or some shot there self or tried to floot on debris so that some of the lifeboats could come back to save them
there is no real answer to who caused the titanic but some people said it was Bruce ismay and others said it was the captain and others say it was the ship builders.

Nobody panicked at first and most people didn't know there would be danger. It wasn't until 12:25 AM that Andrews confirmed to Capt. Smith that the ship was doomed.
Some nicknames were "the millionaires' special", "The wonder ship" , "The last word in luxury" , and the most famous, "The unsinkable ship.
People thought that Titanic was beautiful and such a luxurious ship. They also thought that Titanic would be unsinkable, even when the passengers were told that the ship was sinking, some didn't believe.
The British report lists 2201 people as passengers, but some of the lists show people that were not on the ship and names of people who were on the ship are missing.
A lot of the people on the Titanic died when the ship sunk. Others survived by swimming away, and some in life rafts.

The collapsible canvas boats each held 40-47 people; there were 4 collapsible boats aboard the Titanic when she sank. The full size lifeboats seated 60-65 people each, and there were 16 of those aboard the Titanic, that night. The cutters each held 35-40 people, and there were 2 cutters on the ship. It had been suggested that 48 full size boats, 2 cutters, would have been enough to save everyone aboard. This was also suggested to the owners and builders of the Titanic, by boat designers and consultants at the time Titanic was being built, but the suggestion was disregarded by the owners. Not all the boats aboard the ship left the ship with people in them; some went over the side, empty, in the panic and confusion. Not all the boats held the maximum number of people that could fit in them as they pulled away, either. That was probably partly due to panic and confusion, but also due to some people abandoning the ship to save themselves, not worrying about those left behind.
by going to the ship and save some people's life
The ship itself. Several years ago the ship was found and dives to it have taken place. There is film on this. Plus, the passenger list had famous and rich people who bought tickets for the Titanic and went down with the ship. The Olympic was also in use AFTER.
It stands for "Royal Mail Ship". Other people say it stands for "Royal Majesties' Ship". The RMS Titanic was indeed a Royal Mail Ship. Royal Majesties is incorrect; the only thing RMS stands for is Royal Mail Ship. Look up any history of the Titanic, and you will see that it was a mail ship. Some of the artifacts in the traveling Titanic exhibition include correspondence, bank drafts and other official papers being transported to North America.
