It was a night, usually weekly, when all patrons at a theater would get a dish when they attended the movie being shown. So it's likely that, at some point, all theaters in Philadelphia (and across the country) gave out dishes at one point or another.
There may have been others but the ones my mother received and passed on to me were made by anchor hoc king.

Movie Theaters actually make most of their profit on food and beverages. As long as people are willing to pay these prices, nothing will change.

Theaters make schedules based on ticket sales. As long as people are going to see the movie, it will remain in theaters. When ticket sales drop off, the theater will show something else.
