In the 1800s, Britain provided suffrage to more men. Previously only landed people, mostly aristocrats who were members of the Anglican Church had the right to vote. Voting rights were given to some tenants, Catholics as well as the middle class. In 1833, Parliament passed laws that also led to the abolishment of slavery. The Act gave freedom to all children under the age of six, all over the age of six were to be free within seven years.
