Unlike modern fantasy authors, Tolkien did not describe this sort of thing. The elves "prized beautiful hair," but I believe that only refers to one kind. I think the reigning belief in the Tolkien fan community seems to be that the males, anyway, did not have hair on their chests.

Following this reasoning ,we could say that hair is still present on the arms because they are very exposed on a daily basis ,and it's a way for the body and the skin to protect itself. The hair present on the armpits serves a different function. Believe it or not ,it's for seduction purposes! The hair traps the sweat and the pheromones ,creating a smell ,to attract the opposite sex.. !

They all have fair skin and are immortal, dying only if killed in battle or of a broken heart. Sickness and drunkenness does not affect them the same way it affects us.
