Humans actually have hair all over their body. But the majority of the hair is invisible or a very pale blonde. We even have hair on our faces that is highly difficult for the human eye to see. However body hair is cause by testosterone. Men naturally have higher testosterone levels than Women. Some scientiffic researchers also believe that human body hair is caused by our (possible) past heritage thousands of years ago when it was believed we came from monkeys. Hair is also on the body for protective reasons. Nowadays ,with the evolution of technology and fashion ,some of it has become undesirable. For example ,eyebrows protects the eyes from particles that could be harmful. Following this reasoning ,we could say that hair is still present on the arms because they are very exposed on a daily basis ,and it's a way for the body and the skin to protect itself. The hair present on the armpits serves a different function. Believe it or not ,it's for seduction purposes! The hair traps the sweat and the pheromones ,creating a smell ,to attract the opposite sex.. !
Gandalf Note: There are a number of elves who could fit that description (maybe with blonde hair), including Legolas, but Gandalf did not have a bow and arrow.
Eowyn
Years. That's the whole point of the hair testing. Think of each hair having rings like a tree. Except the rings tell which nutrients were in your body at different times of your life.
I believe you may be referring to Gollum, who was originally known as Smeagol. His appearance is that of a pale, bald except for a few strands of hair and gangly creature.
I would say that it would be referring to Eowyn, sheildmaiden and niece of King Theoden of Rohan.
They are the same as the quality of the elves in the Lord of the Rings books. Granted, Tolkien does seem to portray them a bit more whimsically than he does in the LOTR books. They are "high elves" - tall and regal. The men are lordly and the ladies are extremely feminine. The have various shades of blonde, brown or red hair. They all have fair skin and are immortal, dying only if killed in battle or of a broken heart. Sickness and drunkenness does not affect them the same way it affects us. That is they never get sick and are very hard to get un-sober.
