Yes, Alice's sister is reading the book at the beginning, and is there when Alice wakes up at the end of the book, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, and Disney's 1951 animated film.
Her name is not given, but Alice Liddell, the real little girl who inspired the the story, had two sisters, Edith and Lorina.
The sister's name is not given in the story. But the real Alice, Alice Liddell, about whom Lewis Carroll told the story, had two sisters, Edith and Lorina. As Lorina was older than Alice, it is more likely that the sister in the story referred to her.
In his book, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, Lewis Carroll doesn't give much information about the character of Alice's sister. He doesn't even tell us her name.
We do know, however, that the book was inspired by a little girl called Alice Liddell who had two sisters, named Edith and Lorina.
Carroll doesn't specify that Alice in the book is actually Alice Liddell, and similarly, it is never explicit that the sister was either of the other Liddell girls.
However, if we assume that Alice is Alice Liddell, then the sister is most likely to be Lorina, as she is Alice's older sister, and the sister in the book is also older.
The denouement occurs when Alice's sister is thinking about Alice and her adventures.
In the opening scene of Alice in Wonderland, Alice and her sister are sitting by a riverbank and her sister is reading a book which Alice considers very boring. She's feeling sleepy when she sees a white rabbit run past wearing a waistcoat and looking at a pocket watch. Alice is consumed with curiosity so she chases after it but falls down the rabbit hole and lands in Wonderland.
she wanted to meet the queen of hearts too... and many more
The first line in Lewis Carroll's book, Alice's Adventures in wonderland is, "Alice was beginning to get very tired of sitting by her sister on the bank, and of having nothing to do: once or twice she had peeped into the book her sister was reading, but it had no pictures or conversations in it, `and what is the use of a book,' thought Alice `without pictures or conversation?'"

Alice's Adventures in Wonderland
No, it isn't important, because the sister of Alice is in the Disney film just an unimportant character. What Alice experiences in the wonderland is at least everything that is important for the progress of the story. But I have to say, that the sister story is more important in the book, because in the book everything about the wonderland was just a dream from Alice, unevoked by her sister who read a fantasy book to Alice. In the Disney version it is unknown if everything was just a dream and so the sister is irrelevant for the story.
