There is said that he will die because at the end on episode 20 of season 2 Damon was attacked and bitten by a werewolf. So most likely that he will. HELL no do i want him to die hes my favorite character!

∙ 13y agoShow - You can tell she has feelings for him but her being in love with him I don't think the shows that far, she has said many times that she cares about him and does not want anything to happen to him.
Book - Yes she does, she has kissed him she has come to the realization that she loves him and Stefan.

But if you read the book "Shadow Souls" (the sixth book in the series, or the second book in the Return series) Damon and Elena work a lot together and exchange blood. In Shadow Souls, Elena, Damon, Bonnie and another friend of theirs Meredith, travells to the Dark Dimension to save Stefan that has been locked up in a prison there. LJ Smith has explained that Shadow Souls is also about Elena falling for Damon and that she becomes as much in love with Damon as she is with Stefan. I don't have a source to back this up, I have only heard it from other fans. But the book and the tv-show is completely different from each other. So we will see hos it all ends.
