Yes and no. Because she lost her hearing in childhood (she was not born deaf),she can speak. But because her speech is somewhat hard to understand sometimes, she feels more comfortable signing.

(Another Writer) Talking is different than speaking. Although Marlee can speak, she usually signs because that is her language. That is how she talks and communicates ideas. So yes, Marlee Matlin TALKS with sign language.
