I would say that the lead role on criminal minds has to go to either Aaron Hotchner (Thomas Gibson) or David Rossi (Joe Mantegna). hope i helped. :)
If you are thinking about Aaron Hotchner, the team leader than he and his wife got a divorce however they have joint custody of their son Jack. When Aaron thinks that his family is in danger, his wife Hayley and Jack are put into witness protection where he cannot communicate with them however in one episode you do see Hotchner watching his son through a video camera. Later on though a serial killer with a grudge basically takes his wife and kid hostage in their house. Hayley is killed but Jack is alive, Hotchner also gets the bad guy. Jack then stays with his dad. :)
His favourite color is green
