The teeth (as will other snakes) are used to provide initial resistance to stop the prey animal sliding out of the snakes mouth until the throat muscles take over to pull the food into the stomach.
Actually they have rows of rear facing teeth which are replaced when one breaks or falls out. They are designed to hold their prey while they constrict it and also they help in the swallowing process.
An anaconda is a constrictor snake, that means they don't bite, they wrap themselves around their prey/victim and squeeze until the prey/victim stops breathing, then they swallow the body whole. Adult anacondas are very large snakes. The anacondas have 100 sharp rear facing teeth used for holding their prey, if bitten you can get puncture wounds and lacerationsGeneral information!Anacondas Scientific classification.Kingdom: AnimaliaPhylum: ChordataSubphylum: VertebrataClass: ReptiliaOrder: SquamataSuborder: SerpentesFamily: BoidaeSubfamily: BoinaeGenus: EunectesThe question what is the biggest snake can be confusing, the biggest as far as girth (largest being measured at 44 inches or 1,1176 m) is the Green Anaconda, on average anacondas are more then 20 ft (6.09 m) long with and average weight of 300+ pounds (136.08+ kg) many reaching lengths of 29ft ( 8.83 m) or more, with a weight of over 550 lbs ( 249.48 kg), in terms of length then and only then will the Reticulated Python exceed the anaconda, the longest python was measured at 33 ft ( 10.05 m) but even this python can't match the total mass of the anaconda.Anacondas are members of the Boidae family of reptiles and spend most of their time in rivers and swamps of the Amazon Rainforest in South America which makes them excellent swimmers and are capable of holding their breath for around 15 minutes, female anacondas are generally 3 to 4 times larger then the males and bear their young live and are called "Neonates", the number of young varies, some have produced 100 babies, but the average is between 20 to 40 babies which are about 24 inches (0.6 m) long. Diet consist of (depending on the size of the anaconda, the larger the snake the larger the prey) large/small rodents like capybaras, also pigs, caiman, jaguars, deer, dogs, birds even fish and is acquired by ambushing with a quick strike, 100 rear-facing sharp teeth hold the prey while suffocating it with constriction, (the anaconda is so powerful it generally crushes it's prey) then swallowing it whole, the digestion of the anaconda is very slow thereby allowing it to survive without food for well over a year.Anacondas have around a 10 to 12 year year life span in the wild, in captivity some have reached 20 + years, the biggest threat to it is man and loss of their habitat.

Yes. Anaconda has needle sharped teeth and a ferocious bite and agility in the water and only lacks the nails of the cat. However anacondas bear the bruises and they will just circle the cat in it's deadly coils and eat it which is of no problem. The video of a jaguar eating the anaconda infact there were two was staged to advertise the jaguar in national geographic.
no EDIT: Actually - YES they do ! The teeth (as will other snakes) are used to provide initial resistance to stop the prey animal sliding out of the snakes mouth until the throat muscles take over to pull the food into the stomach. Snakester1962 (Supervisor)

An adult tiger have 30 teeth, while an adult human is having 32 teeth But anyway tiger's teeth are much larger and stronger than ours.
Absolutely not! Green Anaconda's are VERY unpredictable in captivity, while the Yellow Anaconda is known to be aggressive in captivity.
A large anaconda could conceivable eat a baby elephant, but since anacondas are native to South America, while elephants are native to Africa and Asia, it is not likely that the anaconda would have the opportunity. On the other hand elephants are very protective of their young and the mother would probably stomp the snake into the ground if they did meet.An anaconda can never swallow an elephant. Swallowing is a different aspect altogether. It wouldn't be able to kill one. Elephants are not only the strongest animals, they are one of the smartest too.An anaconda wouldn't think of killing and swallowing a muscular man and hence it seems very implausible to include the mightiest animal in its menu.
It is unlikely that an anaconda would be able to defeat a lion in a direct confrontation. While anacondas are large and strong constrictors, lions are powerful predators with sharp claws and teeth that are adept at fighting off other animals. Lions also have agility and experience hunting large prey, giving them the advantage in a fight.
The Jaguar is the only predator of the green anaconda. It can accualy pull it out of water. It takes a while though, because 1: the Anaconda is a fast swimmer, and 2: the Anaconda can move its head on land very fast so that the Jaguar takes a while to bang its head open. Only its head is its fastest part on land.
No, The black mamba has an average length of 2.5 metres while the anaconda has an average length of 4 metres
To conserve energy, and rest while they digest their meal.
The leaf-shaped structure that covers the airway while swallowing is called the epiglottis. It acts as a lid to prevent food and liquid from entering the trachea during swallowing, directing them instead to the esophagus.
An anaconda as greater muscular strength. However a king cobra is more dangerous because it is highly venomous while an anaconda is nonvenomous.
