Kanna dies in Episode 11 of InuYasha: The Final Act "Kanna's Gravestone", which if you add it to the episode count of the original InuYasha anime would equal Episode 178. Though The Final Act moved through the rest of the story at a faster pace than if the original anime had continued, it would've probably occured at a later date than 178.

In the Vampire Knight Anime series, he does not die (although, he was possessed. As far as the Anime goes Takuma was the only one who supposedly died, but later in the Manga it was revealed he did not die. (although i have never actually read the Manga myself, just seen the Anime)
In the manga, Naraku orders Kanna to kill herself in order to take out InuYasha's group, but in the anime he does this by destroying her heart. She and the mirror monster shatter into little pieces of glass. However, one shard enters Kagome's eye, revealing to her the key to defeating Naraku.
