Socialism is not practiced by the government of South Africa although certain policies may seem to reflect socialism. The reason is that the ruling ANC party was initially formed as a totally socialist party that ran its constitution based on the African socialist concept of Ubuntu. When the ANC took power however it realised that it will achieve very little by opposing the White population and bringing in a totally Black government into power.
We do have a communist party working with the ANC, and they are trying to implement it. But were not making it very easy for them. They also take the white people's farms and give it to black people for free. The also try to nationalize many things.
