There are three main types of perspective in art: one-point perspective, two-point perspective, and three-point perspective. One-point perspective involves a single vanishing point on the horizon line, while two-point perspective has two vanishing points on the horizon line. Three-point perspective incorporates a third vanishing point above or below the horizon line for a more dynamic composition.

Any critical analysis written on a point of view would itself have to take some point of view in order to merit analysis. Point of view in and of itself is merely the vantage point of the viewer. The viewer can only view what ever it is that is viewed from the point of which it is viewed. Any further analysis demands a point of view beyond that. On a basic level the point of view is limited to those who view it from that point. Others will have viewed the same event or phenomenon from other points of view and there will be differentiations in the overall understanding of the event or phenomenon. When the event or phenomenon is point of view, the analysis must necessarily acknowledge the inherent point of view of the analysis itself. If an analysis were to consider the effects of different points of view and how that shapes understanding of truth, it could not do so without taking the point of view that differentiations of view points have an affect on future out comes. Here is the hypothesis, or for the purposes of an essay a thesis statement; When witnessing an event or observing natural phenomenon, the knowledge gained from the witnesses point of view will vary from viewer to viewer and that difference will create confusion or misunderstanding as to what was viewed and what actually happened or is happening. This, of course, is just one point of view and many other essays can be written that offer a critical analysis by taking another point of view. For example, there is much written on the spiritual consciousness and some would refer to it as the third eye. A different point of view from a viewer with his limited physical point of view. A critical analysis of this sort of point of view, is in itself a point of view of that point of view. Another example of point of view is the opinions that reveal how people look at abstract ideas. Political, religious and philosophical ideas are looked at without using eyes and in that sense are not limited to the body and the angle of which those eyes are viewing a particular subject. Ideas can be seen from as many different angles as the conscious mind, or even subconscious mind will allow. Even so, people tend to see these ideas from a particular point of view. These are three examples of points of view that could be subjected to critical analysis and in the end become an essay with one more point of view.
