when the dc generator is loaded current will be drawn from it, therefore a back emf Will be generated, which opposes the motion of a generator, and hence, that opposition loads the three phase generator

Difference between induction motor and induction generator?

in case of induction motor the rotor speed is less than synchronous speed giving positive slip but in case of generator the rptor speed is greater than synchronous speed giving negative slip.......

What is squirrel cage induction generator?

Squirrel cage type is a type of Induction motor. It tells that the rotor is "squirrel cage" type. Another type of induction motor is with "slip ring" type of rotor. Squirrel cage type is most widely used Induction motor.

How does a generator use electromagnetic induction?

There is a motor in a generator which carries out this electromagnetic induction,as we switch on the generator the magnetic field lines between that motor get cuts off by the rotating coil which cause change in flux and change in flux cause induced emf,cue to emf at different points of coil cause current to get flow and then generator will get on.

What are the advantages of induction motor?

1. Induction motor has high starting torque, therefore use for operate pump which need high starting torque. 2. Induction motor operate on variable speed. 3. It can be used as generator when speed of motor is higher than synchronous speed.

Why generator has the better efficiency than motor?

becoz alternater has work on principle of electomagnetic induction .

When the induction motor working as induction generator?

An induction motor connected to an existing ac supply normally runs at less than the synchronous speed by an amount described as the 'slip' which is proportional to the torque demanded at the shaft. If the same motor is instead coupled to an engine and driven at a speed higher than the synchronous speed, with negative slip, power then travels back into the ac supply and the motor has become a generator. The amount of power produced depends on the speed. However a normal induction motor will not behave as a stand-alone ac generator. For ac power generation synchronous generators are invariably used because it is necessary to set and maintain the frequency of the supply accurately.

Why is it said that generator is a motor working in reverse?

because working principle of both the things are same. The motor converts electrical energy in to mechanical via magnetic induction and generator do the exact opposite of this. And yes,you should use 'electricity generator' not only 'generator'.

If a three phase induction motor runs at a speed greater than synchronous speed?

When an induction motor is pushed over synchronous speed it will become a generator and will deliver power back to the utility.

What is kvar rating for 400 hp induction motor generator?

Is this a motor, or is it a generator? You should look at the nameplate. Generators are typically spec'd at .8 - .9 pf. Motors can run as low as .6pf. A 400hp motor definitely should have this information handy with it.

Can a motor be used for generator?

Yes, all motors are generators and all generators can be generators. Depending on the type of motor, some are easier to work with. If you mean the common induction motor, you can plug it in and it...
