Barbe-Bleue is a story written by Charles Perrault at the end 17th century.

It was inspired by Gilles de Montmorency-Laval AKA Gilles de Rais, a french nobel, Hundred Years' War's hero during which he fought alongside Joan of Arc.

Born in 1404, he engaged in a serie of child killing (probably four hundred) between 1432 and 1440 when an ecclesiastic investigation proved Gilles'guilt.

Condemned to death, he was hanged at Nantes on 26 October 1440.
