Northern Greece is on the Balkan peninsula, and southwestern Greece is on the Peloponesse, a peninsula connected by the narrow Isthmus of Corinth. Greece includes hundreds of islands in the Aegean Sea, as far as Crete in the Mediterranean and Rhodes off the SW coast of Turkey.
