COLD! Winters in this area are as long and cold as they are in Northern Regions. This is especially so at night when the daytime temps, often anywhere pleasant and sunny, dramatically dropped within an hour or two after sunset.

This begins in late October when nighttime temps begin to fall into the 40s. The previous 50s won't be a reality again until April. By November, these lows are pretty much fixed in the 30s and low 40s. As winter officially arrives in late Dec., the nighttime temps begin to drop even further. From January until early February, they dip into the 20s. As February progresses, these cold nights begin reversing themselves, slowly returning to the 30s, at first, and then into the 40s throughout March.

Anyone expecting better winters in Charleston will be partially satisfied with the days in this area and also the fact that it rarely snows here.
