there once was a Trojan prince, the gods took him to be their water bearer. When he died, the gods placed him among the stars as the best water bearer they've ever had. Aquarius means "water bearer"

it would not be a inportant constellaton if it wasnt also a zodiac sign

well to be honest with it was discovered because it is the second closest constellation next to mars. The first one is Scorpius. It was discovered by the gods dancing in a circle. How it was named was by the god Aquila (the eagle) who just wanted to kill small rodents.
