Neil Armstrong (August 5, 1930 - August 25, 2012) died at the age of 82, apparently from complications following heart surgery.

Neil Armstrong, a US test pilot and astronaut, was the first man to walk on the Moon, on July 21, 1969. This was the culmination of NASA's Apollo program that eventually landed six manned missions between 1969 and 1972, to explore and sample the lunar surface.
