There is no set time for sidroels in basic training/boot camp to call home as they really don't have much down time and the time they do get is usally to sleep or prepare thier gear for the next day. Calls are more likely to happen on the weekend, but they will be short and I wouldn't count on them. The good news is things will definitely get better once your soldier moves on to tech school. It is tough, but stick it out.
