Episode 21 of Legend of the Seeker is action-packed. Richard, Kahlan and Zedd discover how to defeat Darken Rahl by using the Boxes of Orden combined with a Confessor's touch. That way Richard will neither be commanded by the evil power of Orden, nor the blind power of love. But it all goes wrong when the Mord-Sith (led by Cara) arrive and Cara sticks her Agiel in Richard's next. Zedd stupidly tries to use Wizard's Fire on one of them and she, being a Mord-Sith, turns it back upon him and kills him. Kahlan is thrown back whilst Richard and Cara disappear. Darken Rahl arrives and takes Kahlan as prisoner. She learns from Shota, who has also been captured, that Richard and Cara have been transported fifty-eight years into the future. Richard needs an exact combination of Orden, Confession and Agiel to go back to his own time. So Kahlan, knowing she will most likely not live to be that old (she suspects Darken Rahl will kill her) and knowing she's the last Confessor, agrees to marry Darken Rahl and give him an heir. A Confessor child. But the child turns out to be a boy (Nicholas), and boy Confessors are easily corrupted. Nicholas kills Kahlan when she tries to murder him, then he also has his father killed. Fifty-eight years on he is the Master of all the lands by use of Confession. Richard, Cara and Shota (who has lived in the People's Palace all those years) make a plan and manage to trick Nicholas into using his Confessor power and they go back to their own time, in time to stop everything bad from happening. Darken Rahl attempts to break the power of Orden by splitting the boxes using the Sword of Truth and he disintegrates.
