How did they do laundry in the 1800s?

Normally in the 1800s, people washed their clothes at home in a sink or basin. They heated water and would scrub their clothes on rocks. Higher-end families would get immigrants or poor women to do this chore for them.

well they would typicly have a wash board a bar of soap, bucket of hot water and a roller. They would get the dirty laundry then get it wet with soap scrub hard on the washboard and then sqeeze it threw the roller then hang it up on the close line.To me seems kind of weird.

People in the early eighteen hundreds rarely showered, they washed there hair once a week usually in a creek or hand pumped sink. Instead of using shampoo they used herbal mixtures and home remedies. When it came to bathing they used a sponge and just scrubbed there bodies only ONCE A YEAR. When the late 18 hundreds came around people started to clean themselves more and more.
