The German occupation created many changes which involved censorship Coloured people had long appeared on the French stage but they were no longer approved of, but very famous ones such as Josephine Baker continued with their work and she actually worked for the underground resistance and received a medal for this work. The homosexual theatre workers were also persecuted. Many who had been theatre professionals therefore could no longer work. Actual performances were censored and the type and style of all work changed to become pro Nazi. There are many areas which could be expanded on here. There was also a question of freedom of movement to attend performances, blackouts rations etc.
