Life in the desert becomes adapted to that environment because the living organisms that can not survive in that environment die off.The organisms with natural variations that enable them to survive in the desert do so and breed, those variations become established in the population and so the process continues, generation after generation until there are organisms in the desert that do very well in that environment.
