Mating in Anaconda's occurs during the Rainy season during April & May. Males identify receptive females and then copulate with them. Courting & Mating occurs almost exclusively in water and may sometimes happen on Land. More than one male may try to mate with a female. Males wrap around the females and try to mate with them. During this frenzy, they wrap around to form groups which are called "Breeding Balls" where multiple males try to mate with the female in the group. The group could stay in position for 2 to 4 weeks until the copulation eventually happens.
